Lausanne’s Moroccan defender, Abdelouahed Chakhsi, has been cleared of an accusation involving spitting on an opponent, thanks to television images that did not entirely support the claim. Following a championship match against FC Basel on October 6, an opponent accused Chakhsi of intentionally spitting on him.
However, after reviewing TV images, the Swiss League’s competition disciplinary judge found that there wasn’t sufficient evidence to establish that Chakhsi attempted to intentionally spit on his opponent, as the distance between them was too great. As a result, there is no major reason for a sanction, and the disciplinary procedure has been completed, as stated on the official website of the Swiss league.
In essence, while there was evidence of spitting, the judgment was that the distance between Abdelouahed Chakhsi and his opponent was too significant for the accusation of intentional spitting to hold, and as a result, Chakhsi will not face suspension.
