Ivorian star Yann Diomande’s move to Real Madrid stalls over agency dispute

Real Madrid’s proposed move for RB Leipzig star Yann Diomande has been hit by unexpected complications after a dispute emerged between the Ivorian international’s current and former representatives.

The Spanish giants had reportedly reached an advanced agreement with Leipzig over the signing of Diomande on a five-year contract in a deal expected to exceed €100 million. However, the official announcement of the transfer has been delayed due to issues surrounding the player’s agency situation.

As per reports, a disagreement has developed between Diomande’s current agency, Roc Nation, and his former representatives at Maxdale Management, the agency owned by former Ivory Coast international Max Gradel.

Maxdale Management has reportedly submitted a complaint to FIFA, accusing Roc Nation of breaching contractual obligations after Real Madrid negotiated with Diomande’s current representatives. The Spanish club is said to have been unaware of the dispute during negotiations.

Despite the uncertainty, reports from Spain suggest the issue is unlikely to derail Diomande’s move to the Santiago Bernabéu.

According to reports, FIFA will not intervene in the dispute between the two agencies, as the matter is considered an internal contractual disagreement that must be resolved between the parties involved.

But once Diomande is officially registered internationally by Leipzig, he will be able to complete his transfer process and obtain clearance to represent Real Madrid.

FIFA is also not expected to suspend the player, even if further legal complications arise. The situation is reportedly different from previous cases involving contract disputes, such as the famous Lassana Diarra case with Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow.

Meanwhile, in the event Diomande terminates his contract with Leipzig unilaterally, FIFA would still allow him to register and play for Real Madrid, while any financial compensation owed to the German club would be handled separately.

The Ivorian defender’s highly anticipated move to Real Madrid therefore remains expected to go ahead, with the ongoing agency dispute unlikely to prevent him from becoming a Los Blancos player.
