Yan Diomande transfer to Real Madrid stalled by undisclosed agent dispute

The proposed move for Leipzig winger Yan Diomande to Real Madrid has been thrown into uncertainty after a legal dispute involving the Ivory Coast international’s representatives.

The failure to sign the contracts has caused significant concern in Spain, where the transfer had been expected to progress after Real Madrid reportedly moved ahead of Paris St-Germain in the race to sign the player.

However, despite Diomande’s strong links with Real Madrid, he remains outside Jose Mourinho’s squad while the details surrounding his representation are resolved.

Fresh information about the player’s agents has emerged in recent days. A dispute has developed between his former representative, Max Alain Gradel, and Roc Nation, the company that currently manages his affairs.

The issue was recently reported by journalist Romain Molina and was also covered by Spanish media on Monday.

According to AS, a legal claim brought by the former Ivory Coast international is the reason the transfer has not been completed. The newspaper reported that the deal cannot legally be finalised while the case remains under consideration.

The dispute appears to involve matters that Real Madrid’s management was not previously aware of, adding an unexpected complication to a transfer which had appeared to be moving towards completion.

Spanish media have described the situation as a source of growing anxiety in Madrid. According to reports, FIFA regulations could affect Diomande’s registration as a Real Madrid player.

AS said: “Real Madrid, which is negotiating with Roc Nation, is waiting for a quick resolution to this dispute between the agents. Diomande also has to wait.”

The newspaper added that FIFA could still issue the player with a temporary licence, which would allow him to join Real Madrid while the dispute is addressed.

Mundo Deportivo described the development as an “Unexpected problem”. Onda Cero, however, offered a more reassuring assessment through its journalist Alberto Pereiro, saying that FIFA would, in principle, have limited ability to intervene in the matter.

Despite the uncertainty, the prevailing view in Spain remains that Diomande’s transfer from Leipzig to Real Madrid will eventually be confirmed. The latest development has nevertheless surprised many observers and generated widespread discussion.

The story has appeared prominently across Spanish sports media and was debated on evening football radio programmes, reflecting the level of concern surrounding a deal that had previously been associated with Real Madrid’s success in beating Paris St-Germain to the player.

Roc Nation has rejected reports that it considers false and damaging. In a statement published on Instagram, the company said: “We cannot remain silent when unprofessional and uninformed media outlets publish damaging false information simply to attract attention, especially when they personally target our clients without any basis. The media and journalists must be held accountable.”
