Sunderland’s Chemsdine Talbi emerges on RB Leipzig shortlist

RB Leipzig are monitoring Sunderland forward Chemsdine Talbi as they plan for life after Yan Diomande, whose move to Real Madrid is drawing closer.

The Bundesliga club are assessing several attacking options before the start of the new season, with their sporting directors keen to act early and recruit a player capable of making an immediate contribution.

Talbi is among the names being considered by Leipzig, according to Foot Mercato. The Morocco international’s pace, ability to take on defenders and versatility across the forward line have attracted the attention of the German club.

The 21-year-old currently plays for Sunderland, where he scored four goals in 30 appearances during the last campaign. He has won 10 caps for Morocco and is continuing to develop in England, while his potential has also placed him on the radar of a number of European clubs.

Leipzig’s interest is linked to the expected departure of Diomande. The Ivorian winger’s proposed transfer to Real Madrid is moving closer, prompting the German club to examine possible reinforcements rather than wait until the market is more advanced.

No discussions have yet taken place between Sunderland and RB Leipzig over Talbi. The player remains under contract with the English club until 30 June 2030, giving Sunderland a strong contractual position should formal interest develop.

Talbi’s market value is estimated at 25 million euros by Transfermarkt. His annual salary is listed as 2,412,490 euros, equivalent to 1,568,118,500 FCFA.

For now, Leipzig’s interest remains at an exploratory stage. The coming weeks will show whether the club decide to turn their assessment of Talbi into a formal approach for the Morocco international.
