Young Africans sign Congo midfielder Fredy Duval Ngoma from Olympic Safi

Tanzanian giants Young Africans have strengthened their midfield options with the signing of Republic of the Congo defensive midfielder Fredy Duval Ngoma from Moroccan club Olympic Safi.

The 28-year-old has completed a move to the Dar es Salaam-based side as Young Africans continue preparations for the upcoming campaign, adding experience and defensive stability to their squad.

Ngoma is recognised as a versatile midfielder who can operate in both defensive and central midfield roles.

Ngoma joins Young Africans after a spell with Olympic Safi in Morocco, where he featured in the Botola Pro League following his arrival at the club in August 2025.

The Congo international previously gained experience playing for several clubs, including AS Otohô and Al-Ittihad, before moving to Moroccan football.

His arrival is expected to add steel and composure to Young Africans’ midfield, with the club looking to build a competitive squad for domestic and continental challenges.

The Congolese midfielder brings international experience to the Tanzanian champions, having represented the Republic of the Congo at senior level.

His ability to break up opposition attacks, protect the defence and contribute to build-up play makes him a valuable addition to the team.

Young Africans have been active in the transfer market as they aim to maintain their dominance in Tanzanian football while improving their performance in continental competitions.

Ngoma’s signing forms part of the club’s strategy of recruiting experienced players capable of making an immediate impact.

Olympic Safi, meanwhile, lose a key midfield figure after Ngoma’s departure, having only signed the player in 2025.
