Espérance target Morocco winger Sofiane Boufal in summer move
Espérance de Tunis have identified Moroccan international Sofiane Boufal as one of their priority targets as the Tunisian champions look to strengthen their attack ahead of the new season.
According to a source, the club have already opened discussions with the experienced winger, who is currently available as a free agent after leaving French side Le Havre.
With no transfer fee required, Espérance are exploring the financial conditions of a potential deal as they seek to add experience and creativity to their squad.
Talks underway over possible deal
Reports suggest that initial discussions between Espérance and Boufal have been positive, with club officials examining key details such as the length of the contract and the player’s salary expectations.
Although negotiations are still at an early stage and no agreement has been reached, the Tunisian giants are understood to be keen on securing the Moroccan’s signature.
Landing a player of Boufal’s profile would represent one of Espérance’s most significant signings of the summer transfer window.
Boufal brings wealth of experience
The 32-year-old has built an impressive career across several European leagues and the Middle East.
After emerging at Angers and Lille in France, Boufal earned a high-profile move to English Premier League club Southampton before going on to represent Spanish side Celta Vigo, Qatar’s Al Rayyan and Belgian outfit Union Saint-Gilloise.
He returned to France with Le Havre, where he spent the second half of the 2025-26 season.
Despite limited playing time, Boufal remained productive, scoring once and providing four assists in 17 Ligue 1 appearances.
Atlas Lion with World Cup pedigree
Boufal has earned around 40 international caps for Morocco and was one of the key figures in the Atlas Lions squad that made history at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The winger played an important role as Morocco became the first African and Arab nation to reach the semi-finals of the tournament.
His international experience and technical quality are among the factors that have attracted Espérance, who are eager to add proven talent to their attacking options.
For now, talks continue, but the Tunisian club will hope to persuade Boufal that a move to Tunis is the right next step in his career.
