Hervé Renard is fully aware of the challenge that lies ahead of him at Sochaux. The French coach, after a commendable career in Africa, expresses his satisfaction with returning to France and sees it as an opportunity to make a mark with the club.
“I didn’t have to come. I could have continued with many offers on the African continent, but it is a personal challenge. And then, I like the values of this club. Values that resemble me with people who have respect. There is a soul here, and I like that. It’s a fantastic challenge, and I like challenges,” mentioned the former Zambia national coach during a press conference after overseeing his first training session.
Renard recognizes the difficulty of the upcoming match against AS Monaco, stating, “It will be an honor to start in Ligue 1 against AS Monaco. But it will be difficult, with 3 suspended. I’ve been coaching around the world for 16 years, always with all my energy and enthusiasm. The level in Ligue 1, we will know at the end of the season if we have it. Not before.”
Taking charge of Sochaux, currently in the 19th place in Ligue 1 with only 5 points after nine games, Renard inherits a club facing challenges. Omar Daf, who served as interim head coach after the resignation of Eric Hély, passes the baton to the winner of the CAN 2012, Hervé Renard, in the hope of steering the team towards a positive trajectory.
