Al-Hazem sign Rwanda midfielder Bonheur Mugisha from El Masry

Rwanda midfielder Bonheur Mugisha has joined Saudi Pro League club Al-Hazem from Egyptian side El Masry, completing a move that takes the 26-year-old into a new league after one season in Egypt.

Mugisha, who plays as a defensive midfielder, made the switch on 2 August 2026. No transfer fee has been disclosed for the move.

The 1.90m-tall right-footer arrives at Al-Hazem after helping El Masry win the Egyptian League Cup during the 2025-26 season. He joined the Egyptian club from Tunisia’s Stade Tunisien in August 2025, with that transfer completed for €300,000.

His move to Saudi Arabia follows a career that has taken him through clubs in Rwanda, Egypt and Tunisia. Before joining Stade Tunisien, Mugisha played for AS Marsa, Al-Ahli and APR FC.

Mugisha’s career record includes 35 appearances and five goals in Ligue 1, as well as 16 appearances in the Premier League. He has also featured in African continental competitions, making eight appearances in both the CAF Confederation Cup and the CAF Champions League.

The midfielder scored once in the CAF Confederation Cup and once in the Tunisian Super Cup, while also contributing an assist in the Egyptian League Cup. His experience includes domestic league football, cup competitions and continental matches across several countries.

Al-Hazem become Mugisha’s sixth recorded senior club and his first in Saudi Arabia. The move also represents a change of competition after his time with El Masry, who he represented during the club’s Egyptian League Cup-winning campaign.

Mugisha’s arrival strengthens Al-Hazem’s midfield options with a player whose senior career has included regular appearances in both domestic and African competitions. He joins the Saudi Pro League side with a market value of €500,000.

The transfer was completed on 2 August 2026, with Mugisha leaving El Masry to join Al-Hazem.
