Morocco goalkeeper Rachid Ghanimi joins Wydad AC on free transfer

Morocco goalkeeper Rachid Ghanimi has made a same-league switch to Wydad AC from FUS Rabat on a free transfer. The 25-year-old has signed a contract with the Botola Pro Inwi club running until 30 June 2029.

Ghanimi moves to Wydad after three seasons with FUS Rabat, whom he joined from Rapide Oued Zem in August 2023. His transfer to Wydad was completed on 2 August 2026, marking his third senior club move since beginning his professional career.

The 1.89m goalkeeper was born in Khouribga and has represented Morocco in international competition. He was part of the Morocco side that won the African Nations Championship during the 2024-25 campaign, as well as the Arab Cup in the same season.

Ghanimi also helped Morocco Under-23s win the Under-23 Africa Cup in 2023. He was involved with Morocco’s Olympic team at the 2024 Games, where the side finished third.

He began his senior career with Rapide Oued Zem after coming through the club’s reserve setup. His move to FUS Rabat in 2023 was also completed without a transfer fee, before he left the club for Wydad two years later under the same terms.

Ghanimi’s arrival adds another goalkeeper to Wydad’s squad as the Casablanca club prepares for the new campaign. His deal keeps him at Wydad through the end of June 2029, and he has now formally completed his free transfer from FUS Rabat.
