Nice linked with move for unattached Burkina Faso winger Bertrand Traore

Bertrand Traore, the Burkina Faso winger currently without a club, is being linked with a move to Nice.

The 30-year-old right winger became unattached on 1 July after leaving Sunderland, having joined the English club from Ajax in September 2025 for €2.9m. No agreement has been confirmed between Traore and the Ligue 1 side.

Traore has extensive experience in France, making 88 Ligue 1 appearances and scoring 21 goals, while also registering 12 assists. He previously played for Lyon, joining the club from Chelsea in 2017 before moving to Aston Villa in 2020.

His wider European experience includes 32 Europa League appearances, in which he scored 11 goals and provided seven assists. Traore was also part of the Ajax side that finished as Europa League runners-up in the 2016-17 season.

The left-footed attacker began his senior career in the Chelsea system after moving from AJ Auxerre and had loan spells with Vitesse and Ajax before making a permanent move to Lyon. He later spent time at Istanbul Basaksehir and Villarreal before returning to Ajax.

Traore’s current status allows him to consider his next move without an existing club commitment, with Nice currently identified as a potential destination.
