Union SG sign Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast goalkeeper Herve Koffi on loan

Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast goalkeeper Herve Koffi has joined Union Saint-Gilloise from Lens on loan, with the move taking the 29-year-old to Belgium until 30 June 2027.

Koffi, a 1.86m right-footed goalkeeper, switches clubs after spending the 2025-26 campaign on loan at Angers SCO. That spell ended on 30 June, when he returned to Lens before moving on to Union SG at the start of the new season.

The transfer gives Koffi a return to the Belgian league, where he previously played for Royal Charleroi SC. He joined Charleroi from Lille in July 2021 for €500,000 and spent three seasons with the club before moving to Lens for €2.5m in July 2024.

Koffi’s time at Lens has included two loan moves. After arriving from Charleroi, he spent the 2025-26 season with Angers, having also been part of the Lens squad before that temporary switch. His career record also includes a loan spell at Mouscron during the 2020-21 season.

The goalkeeper began his professional career in Burkina Faso with Rahimo FC and RC Bobo Dioulasso before moving to Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas in 2015. Lille signed him from ASEC in July 2017, beginning his spell in French football.

Koffi was born in Bobo-Dioulasso and holds Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast nationality. His arrival adds an experienced goalkeeper to a Union SG squad preparing for the 2026-27 campaign, while his contract at the Belgian club runs for the duration of the loan.

The move is the latest stage of a career that has taken Koffi between clubs in Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, France and Belgium. He has now returned to Belgium after his previous spells with Charleroi and Mouscron, this time joining Union SG from Lens.

Koffi’s loan at Union Saint-Gilloise is scheduled to end on 30 June 2027, when he is due to return to Lens.
