Nigeria-Spain striker Cedric Omoigui leaves Gimnastic to become a free agent
Nigeria-Spain striker Cedric Omoigui has left Gimnastic and is now without a club after completing his departure from the Spanish third-tier side on 1 August 2026.
The 31-year-old centre-forward joined Gimnastic from CF Fuenlabrada in July 2025 and spent the 2025-26 season with the club in Primera Federacion – Group II. His departure brings an end to a one-year spell in Tarragona, with Omoigui now available after ending his association with Gimnastic.
Omoigui has built his career largely in Spain, where he has also represented Fuenlabrada, Racing, UD Ibiza, RCD Mallorca and Mallorca B. He previously spent time in Belgium with Mouscron, competing in the Jupiler Pro League.
His most recent move before joining Gimnastic came in July 2025, when he switched from Fuenlabrada. He had arrived at Fuenlabrada as a free transfer from Racing in July 2024, following a loan spell at UD Ibiza during the 2023-24 campaign.
The forward’s career record includes 105 appearances and 27 goals in Segunda Division B, as well as 102 appearances, 17 goals and five assists in Primera Federacion. He has also scored in Spain’s promotion play-offs and Copa del Rey, while recording one goal in seven Belgian top-flight appearances.
Omoigui’s most productive season came in 2014-15, when he scored 17 goals in Segunda Division B – Group III and finished as the competition’s leading scorer. He remains eligible to represent both Nigeria and Spain, and was born in Benin City, Nigeria.
A left-footed striker standing 1.81m tall, Omoigui now enters the next stage of his career after ending his spell with Gimnastic. His recorded market value at the time of the move was €150,000.
The move took effect on 1 August 2026, with Omoigui leaving Gimnastic without a new club listed.
