Mostafa Shobeir joins global agency as European interest grows after Egypt’s World Cup run

Mostafa Shobeir has signed with global football agency CAA Base, a move that could strengthen the Al Ahly and Egypt goalkeeper’s prospects of securing a transfer to a European club.

The 26-year-old’s agreement with the agency comes after an impressive showing at the 2026 World Cup, where he helped Egypt reach the last 16 for the first time in the country’s history.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on his account on the platform “X” that Shobeir had become one of CAA Base’s represented players. Romano also noted that the goalkeeper remains under contract with Al Ahly until June 2027, although interest from several clubs could lead to his departure in the coming period.

Shobeir played a key role in Egypt’s historic campaign at the World Cup. His performances throughout the tournament attracted attention from supporters, scouts and clubs outside Egypt, with a series of strong displays helping the Pharaohs progress beyond the group stage and into the last 16.

The goalkeeper’s decision to work with CAA Base is being viewed as a significant development in his career. The agency has extensive links with major European clubs and manages the careers of several prominent figures in the game.

Its football clients include Chelsea pair Cole Palmer and Moises Caicedo, as well as Arsenal forward Eberechi Eze. CAA Base also represents managers including Italy’s Carlo Ancelotti and Spain’s Julen Lopetegui.

Shobeir’s new representation does not mean a transfer has been confirmed, and his contract with Al Ahly still has one year remaining beyond the current season. However, his performances for Egypt have increased his profile in the transfer market and may provide a platform for a move abroad.

The goalkeeper’s progress has been closely followed since his standout displays at the World Cup. Reaching the last 16 marked a landmark achievement for Egypt, and Shobeir’s contribution was central to that run.
