Eintracht Frankfurt sign Raphael Onyedika on long-term deal

Eintracht Frankfurt have secured their new defensive midfielder, completing the signing of Raphael Onyedika from Club Brugge.

According to reports from Fabrizio Romano and Sky, the deal is agreed and only the medical is still pending.

The transfer fee is reported between nine and ten million euros, reflecting Frankfurt’s belief in Onyedika’s long-term value. Once he passes his medical this weekend, the Nigerian is expected to sign a contract running until 2031, underlining the club’s commitment to building around him in midfield.

Onyedika’s journey to this point has been anything but ordinary. He began playing street football in his hometown in Imo State, Nigeria, before moving to Ozalla Soccer Academy in Onitsha, where his raw talent was sharpened.

He then joined FC Ebedei in Sagamu at 15, an academy closely linked to FC Midtjylland and known for preparing players for European leagues. There he spent three formative years from 2016, focusing on physicality, timing in duels and tactical awareness as a defensive midfielder.

In June 2019, shortly after turning 18, Onyedika moved to FC Midtjylland’s academy in Denmark, officially stepping into European youth football and beginning the path that now leads him to Frankfurt.
