Nicolas Jackson joins Chelsea pre-season tour

Senegal international Nicolas Jackson has linked up with Chelsea’s squad in Australia, bringing an end to speculation surrounding his absence from the club’s pre-season tour and his future at Stamford Bridge.

The 25-year-old striker was notably missing when Chelsea departed for Sydney last week, prompting widespread reports that he could be on the verge of a move away from the club during the summer transfer window.

Among the rumours circulating was a potential switch to fellow Premier League side Aston Villa, with some reports suggesting Jackson’s absence from the travelling squad was connected to ongoing transfer discussions.

However, Chelsea have now put those rumours to rest after confirming that the Senegal forward has arrived in Sydney and joined his teammates for the club’s pre-season preparations.

Jackson’s delayed arrival was not related to any transfer activity but rather due to his involvement with the Senegal national team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Having featured for the Teranga Lions during the tournament, the striker was granted additional time off before reporting for pre-season duties.

The same arrangement applied to Chelsea midfielder Moisés Caicedo, who also participated in the World Cup with Ecuador and was given an extended break following the competition.

Jackson’s arrival is a significant boost for Chelsea as they continue preparations for the new campaign, with the club keen to build momentum during their tour of Australia. The former Villarreal forward remains an important part of Chelsea’s attacking plans despite ongoing transfer speculation linking him with a move elsewhere.

His presence in training is expected to shift attention back to football matters as Chelsea intensify preparations ahead of the 2026/27 season.
