Real Madrid poised to extend Vinicius Junior contract as club banks on his sporting and commercial clout

Real Madrid are moving decisively towards agreeing a new contract with Vinicius Junior, with the club convinced that the Brazil forward has become too valuable to lose on both sporting and commercial grounds, according to Spanish newspaper AS.

The European champions are determined to secure the long-term future of a player they now regard as one of the club’s central assets on and off the pitch. Vinicius has developed into a major revenue source through his image rights, around 50% of which belong to Real Madrid following his last contract renewal in 2022 – to the extent that, in the view of figures close to the club, his commercial income “pays his own salary”.

Frederico Pena, chief executive of Roc Nation Sports Brazil – the agency that represents Vinicius – said interest from sponsors has surged in recent seasons.

“The number of brands interested in Vini’s image is constantly increasing,” Pena explained. “Despite his young age, he is a key player at the biggest club in the world and in one of the most important national teams. He has been a champion and a star in the Champions League twice, and he is an example of perseverance and sporting success.”

One of Real Madrid’s best modern investments

Real Madrid’s determination to renew Vinicius’s deal is underpinned by the scale of their return on the original transfer. The forward joined the club in the summer of 2017 from Flamengo for €45m, a fee that was considered high for a teenager at the time but is now viewed as one of the shrewdest signings in the club’s recent history.

Now 25, Vinicius has played 375 matches for Real Madrid, scoring 128 goals and providing 85 assists. He has been central to the club’s last two UEFA Champions League triumphs, establishing himself as one of the side’s primary attacking reference points.

AS reports that the club’s plan to renew his contract is driven not only by his performances, but increasingly by the commercial impact that surrounds him. Within Real Madrid, the Brazil international is seen as a core figure in the club’s global projection and a significant generator of income through sponsorships and image rights, half of which flow directly to the club.

Sponsorship magnet with World Cup pull

Vinicius’s marketing power has grown rapidly, particularly around the most recent FIFA World Cup, where he emerged as one of the most sought-after players for sponsors. He had 16 different commercial partners during the tournament, the second‐highest total in the Brazil squad behind Neymar, who had 20.

Most of the brands tied to Vinicius are described as major corporations or multinational companies. Since breaking into the senior Brazil side, he has published promotional content for several of those sponsors that has collectively attracted more than 100 million views online.

That reach has strengthened Real Madrid’s conviction that a contract extension is essential, with the club viewing his global presence as a strategic asset that complements his on‐field contribution.

Vinicius run like a company

Pena also revealed the extent to which Vinicius’s career is now managed with a corporate structure, reflecting his status as a global figure.

“Vini has reached a point where he is comparable to a company in his own right,” he said. “There is an organisational structure with a CEO, a financial director, and administrative, legal, commercial, marketing and communications departments that oversee everything.

“There are dozens of initiatives involving many sponsors, as well as social activities focused on his institute, which is now a global leader in innovative teaching methods for children and young people.”

This extensive set‐up, together with the substantial sums generated by his image rights, is a central reason why Real Madrid are so keen to tie him down again. With the club owning roughly half of those rights, maintaining the partnership is seen at the Bernabeu as a lucrative long‐term investment rather than simply a wage commitment.

Anti-racism stance enhances commercial appeal

Marketing specialists cited by AS argue that Vinicius’s outspoken and sustained stance against racism has further enhanced his attractiveness to sponsors. His responses to racist abuse have been described as measured yet forceful, helping to shape his profile as a socially engaged, responsible figure.

That positioning has increased his value to brands looking for credible ambassadors and, in turn, has reinforced Real Madrid’s interest in retaining him not just as a leading player but as a powerful symbol of the club’s image worldwide.

According to AS, the renewal of Vinicius’s contract is now viewed at Real Madrid as a question of when rather than if. The club see him as one of their most important sporting and commercial pillars, and believe that keeping him in Madrid will continue to pay dividends on every front – competitively, financially and reputationally.
