Roma weigh move for Eintracht Frankfurt winger Jean-Matteo Bahoya

Roma have turned their attention to Eintracht Frankfurt winger Jean-Matteo Bahoya as they look to bolster their attack following the collapse of a move for Crysencio Summerville, according to reports in Europe.

The Serie A club are exploring alternative options in the transfer market after stepping away from talks for Summerville, and Bahoya has emerged as one of the leading names under consideration. Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur reports that the 21-year-old is now on Roma’s shortlist as they seek additional firepower in wide areas.

Bahoya, a French-Cameroonian attacker, is understood to be among a group of profiles studied by Roma’s recruitment department as they attempt to inject more pace and directness into their frontline. Club officials are said to be attracted by his speed, dribbling ability and skill in one-on-one situations, identifying him as a player who could bring greater dynamism on the left flank.

The left-sided winger joined Eintracht Frankfurt earlier in his career and has since developed into a player the Bundesliga side view as part of their long-term plans. His performances have helped establish a growing reputation, reflected in the attention from Roma and his valuation on the market.

Bahoya is under contract with Eintracht Frankfurt until 30 June 2029, a long-term deal that strengthens the German club’s position and is likely to make any negotiations complicated if Roma decide to move from interest to a formal bid. Eintracht consider him an asset for the future, and that lengthy commitment means they are under no pressure to sell.

The 21-year-old is currently valued at around €25m by specialist website Transfermarkt, underlining the scale of investment that could be required to prise him away from Frankfurt. That figure, combined with his contract situation, suggests Roma would need to make a significant financial effort if they choose to pursue him seriously.

For now, the capital club are continuing their assessment of options to reinforce their forward line after shelving plans for Summerville. Whether their admiration for Bahoya leads to a concrete offer in the coming weeks remains uncertain, with no indication yet that formal talks have begun between the two clubs.

Roma’s interest, however, highlights Bahoya’s rising status in European football, as a young winger whose pace and ability to beat defenders are drawing attention beyond the Bundesliga.
