Samuel Chukwueze’s Milan future uncertain as Fiorentina and Bologna push for transfer

Samuel Chukwueze’s future at AC Milan is in the balance after his return from a loan spell at Fulham, with Fiorentina and Bologna both moving to sign the Nigeria winger before the end of the transfer window.

Fulham chose not to activate their option to buy the 27-year-old, sending him back to San Siro, where incoming Milan head coach Ruben Amorim is understood to be keen to keep him in the squad.

However, Fiorentina and Bologna have each opened concrete negotiations in an effort to lure the former Villarreal player away from Milan, creating a three-way dilemma over his next move in Serie A.

Fiorentina have revived a long-standing interest in Chukwueze as they look to strengthen their attacking options, viewing him as a way to add cutting edge and depth in the wide areas.

Bologna, meanwhile, want to inject more pace and imagination into their forward line and see the Super Eagles international as an ideal fit for their style of play.

Both clubs are pushing to reach an agreement before the market closes, with Chukwueze’s situation complicated by Milan’s stance and his own ambitions.

Player intent and previous interest

Chukwueze has already turned down an approach from Trabzonspor, having rejected the chance to move to Turkey in favour of staying in what he considers a more competitive league.

The winger, capped by Nigeria at senior level, is therefore expected to prioritise offers that keep him in one of Europe’s top competitions, with Serie A remaining his preferred destination.

Milan must now decide whether to follow Amorim’s wish to retain Chukwueze as part of his plans, or to listen to proposals from Fiorentina and Bologna for a potential departure.

No agreement has yet been reached with any club, leaving all options open as the transfer deadline approaches and ensuring Chukwueze’s next step remains unresolved.
