Yann Kitala: DR Congo-France striker joins FCV Farul from Vizela on free transfer

DR Congo-France forward Yann Kitala has joined Romanian club FCV Farul from Portugal’s Vizela on a free transfer.

The 28-year-old centre-forward moves to Farul from Vizela, where he had yet to make an appearance in Liga Portugal 2 during the 2026-27 season. His move takes him from Portugal to the Romanian SuperLiga after just over a year with the Portuguese side.

Kitala joined Vizela from Le Havre AC on 1 July 2025, also on a free transfer. Before that, he spent the 2023-24 campaign on loan at Almere City, returning to Le Havre at the end of the season.

He had initially moved to Le Havre from Sochaux in July 2022. During his time with Le Havre, Kitala was part of the squad that won the French second tier in the 2022-23 season, having previously claimed the same honour with Lorient in 2019-20.

Born in Paris, Kitala began his development with Paris FC’s youth set-up before moving to Clairefontaine and then Lyon. He progressed through Lyon’s youth teams and played for the club’s reserve side before joining Lorient on loan in August 2019.

Kitala subsequently made a permanent move to Sochaux in July 2020 for a reported €300,000. His later spell at Le Havre included the loan move to Almere City, followed by his free transfer to Vizela.

The left-footed striker is listed at 1.86m and has represented both the DR Congo and France in his nationality record. He now begins a new chapter with Farul after a career that has included football in France, the Netherlands and Portugal.

Kitala completed his free transfer from Vizela to FCV Farul on 19 September 2026.
