Leipzig reject €100m Real Madrid bid for Paris Saint-Germain target Yaya Diomande

RB Leipzig have turned down a €100m offer from Real Madrid for winger Yaya Diomande, according to reports in Germany, as the in-demand Ivory Coast international continues to attract interest from several of Europe’s major clubs.

Diomande, who is under contract with Leipzig until the summer of 2030, has emerged as a key target for the European champions, but Sky Sport Germany reports that the Bundesliga club have rejected Real Madrid’s opening proposal.

The 22-year-old is understood to favour a move to Paris Saint-Germain and has already reached an agreement on personal terms with the French champions. However, the report adds that Paris Saint-Germain have yet to submit a formal bid to Leipzig for the player.

PSG preference, but no offer yet

Sky Sport Germany says Diomande’s preferred destination is Paris, with the winger having settled on contractual details with Paris Saint-Germain. Despite that apparent breakthrough, Leipzig have so far received no official approach from the Ligue 1 club.

That leaves Real Madrid as the only side to have tested Leipzig’s resolve with a concrete offer, one that has been dismissed as insufficient by the German club.

Leipzig are determined to protect their position, buoyed by Diomande’s long-term deal running through to 2030, which significantly strengthens their bargaining power in any negotiations.

Liverpool interest hampered by price

Liverpool are also keen on signing Diomande and are described as “strongly” interested in a deal. But the financial scale of any potential transfer is seen as a major obstacle for the Premier League side.

Leipzig are said to be demanding a very high fee to part with the winger, with the size of the asking price proving a stumbling block to Liverpool’s hopes of bringing him to Anfield.

Earlier this year, the BBC reported that Leipzig were seeking more than €150m to sanction Diomande’s sale, a valuation that would place him among the most expensive players in football history if met.

Standout Bundesliga season

Leipzig’s stance is underpinned by Diomande’s standout campaign in the Bundesliga. The Ivorian international scored 12 goals and provided nine assists in 33 league appearances last season.

His contributions played a significant role in helping RB Leipzig finish third in the Bundesliga table and secure qualification for the Champions League.

Such numbers have enhanced Diomande’s reputation as one of the most exciting attacking talents in Europe, fuelling interest from Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool.

With Leipzig holding firm on their valuation, Real Madrid’s initial €100m bid being rejected, Paris Saint-Germain yet to formalise their interest despite an agreement on personal terms, and Liverpool constrained by the likely transfer fee, Diomande’s future remains unresolved as the transfer window progresses.
