Jonathan Italeng: Cameroon forward swaps Atalanta U23 for Renate in Serie C move
Cameroon striker Jonathan Italeng has joined Italian club Renate from Atalanta U23, signing a contract with the Serie C side until 30 June 2028. The 25-year-old centre-forward, who stands at 1.85m and plays predominantly with his right foot, moves across the third tier as Renate strengthen their attacking options for the new campaign.
Italeng arrives after a long association with Atalanta, where he progressed through the youth structure and most recently featured for the Bergamo club’s U23 side. His switch to Renate keeps him in familiar surroundings in the Italian lower leagues, with the forward already experienced across the different regional groups of Serie C.
Born in Yaounde on 18 January 2001, Italeng has built up a solid body of work in Italy’s professional game. He has made more than 100 appearances across Serie C’s A, B and C groups, scoring 23 goals in league and cup competitions and adding a further handful of assists. His most productive spell has come in Serie C – B, where he registered 18 goals and five assists in 70 appearances.
Before stepping fully into senior football, Italeng distinguished himself in youth competition with Atalanta. He was part of the side that captured both the Italian Youth Championship (Primavera) and the Primavera Supercoppa in the 2019-20 season, underlining his credentials at academy level.
Italeng’s move from Atalanta U23 to Renate, completed on 24 July 2026, places the Cameroon forward under contract with the Serie C – A club for the next two seasons.
