Besiktas plot ambitious Salah and Nunez moves with Al Hilal talks central to plan

Mohamed Salah is edging towards a lucrative move to Besiktas, with the Turkish club also attempting to sign Darwin Nunez on loan from Al Hilal in a bid to reunite the former Liverpool team-mates.

The Egypt forward, described in the report as a Liverpool legend, has ended his nine-year spell at Anfield, during which he collected a series of major team honours and individual awards. He is currently a free agent and assessing offers for the next step in his career.

According to Turkish reports, Salah is now “extremely close” to agreeing a deal with Besiktas, who are said to have put forward a substantial financial package worth around €10m for just one season.

The 32-year-old, who joined Liverpool in 2017 and went on to become one of the Premier League’s standout performers, is understood to be attracted by the size of the offer as he weighs up his options after leaving the Premier League club.

Besiktas turn to Al Hilal for Nunez loan

While pushing to complete the Salah deal, Besiktas have also made a formal approach to Al Hilal to take Uruguay striker Darwin Nunez on loan, Turkish newspaper Fanatik has reported.

The Istanbul side are said to have offered €4m to secure Nunez on a season-long loan from the Saudi Pro League champions.

Besiktas hope that adding Nunez would significantly strengthen their attack for the coming campaign, with the move being pursued in parallel to negotiations with Salah.

Nunez, who previously played alongside Salah at Liverpool, joined Al Hilal after leaving the Premier League club. Besiktas believe that landing both forwards in the same window would transform their forward line.

Potential Liverpool reunion in Istanbul

If Besiktas succeed in signing both Salah and Nunez, the pair would be reunited at club level after featuring together in Liverpool’s front line.

Their time together at Anfield saw them combine in attack under the same shirt, and Besiktas are aiming to replicate elements of that partnership in the Turkish Super Lig.

The Turkish club view this transfer window as an opportunity to pull off some of the most eye-catching deals of the summer, with Salah at the centre of their plans and Nunez regarded as a complementary addition.

Al Hilal’s role in transfer strategy

Al Hilal have emerged as a key factor in Besiktas’s transfer strategy, with the Saudi club holding Nunez’s registration and therefore controlling whether a loan move can be completed.

The approach to Al Hilal for Nunez underlines the scale of Besiktas’s ambition, as they attempt to build a squad capable of challenging domestically and enhancing their profile in European competition.

For now, Besiktas are focused on turning the strong interest in Salah into a signed agreement, while continuing talks over Nunez in the hope of bringing the former Liverpool duo back together in Istanbul for the coming season.
