Ferran Torres increasingly likely to leave Barcelona amid feelings of ‘lack of respect’

Barcelona are facing a growing risk of losing Ferran Torres, with the forward said to be unhappy about what he perceives as a lack of respect over his role and future at the club.

The Catalan side have still not settled on a definitive stance regarding the Spain international, whose contract runs until the summer of 2027, and remain without a clear picture of what will happen next, beyond some preliminary contacts with the player’s camp.

According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Barcelona are fully aware that Torres may already have received offers from elsewhere and are expecting to hold a decisive meeting to clarify his position. Reports suggest the 24-year-old has at least two significant proposals on the table.

Sources close to the situation indicate that Torres feels frustrated by the way he has been evaluated at the club in recent months. Despite posting numbers that, in his view, justified a regular starting place, Barcelona are understood to have maintained doubts over his long-term continuity in the squad.

Those doubts have had a concrete consequence: negotiations over a possible contract renewal, which had been under consideration, have effectively been frozen. The pause in talks has contributed to a cooling of relations between the player and the club hierarchy.

Barcelona’s preference is still for Torres to stay at the club and play an important role in the coming seasons.
