As anticipated, it is now official that Samuel Eto’o will be making a comeback to the Cameroon national team to contribute to the Indomitable Lions’ qualification efforts for the 2014 World Cup. The Chelsea striker revealed his return after holding discussions with state officials on Tuesday.
Eto’o, speaking after an audience at the Palace of Unity with the Minister Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, stated, “From this evening, I will join my teammates currently in training in Lisses (…) we all have a duty towards our country.” This confirmation ends the speculation surrounding Eto’o’s participation in the crucial match against Tunisia in Radès on October 13.
The uncertainty arose in August when media reports circulated about Eto’o bidding farewell to his teammates after the victory over Libya. His return now puts an end to the speculations and adds an experienced presence to Cameroon’s World Cup qualification campaign.
