New Barcelona signing Karim Adeyemi has revealed that head coach Hansi Flick was the decisive factor behind his move to the Spanish champions, saying the German manager’s vision convinced him to accept the club’s offer.

Barcelona confirmed the arrival of the Germany international from Borussia Dortmund on Thursday, with the forward signing a contract that will keep him at the club until 2031.

Flick’s influence proved decisive

Speaking at his unveiling, Adeyemi said his conversations with Flick left no doubt about making the switch to Camp Nou.

“Flick is the main reason, he told me what the club needs, and I came here to prove it.”

The 23-year-old explained that the pair held extensive discussions before the transfer was completed, although the talks focused more on the team’s ambitions than his individual role.

“We had a long conversation, but I did not ask him about my position. He asked me if I was ready, and I answered in the affirmative, and said that I would do my best.”

‘A club completely different from any other’

Adeyemi described joining Barcelona as one of the biggest moments of his career and expressed his excitement about the challenge ahead.

“For me, it’s a big step. It’s a club completely different from any other in the world.”

The move also reunites the forward with Flick, who handed him his first senior Germany appearance during his spell as national team coach.

Barcelona will hope Adeyemi can carry his pace, versatility and attacking threat from the Bundesliga into La Liga as Flick continues to reshape his squad ahead of the new season.
