Saudi clubs compete for Sofyan Amrabat signing

Morocco international midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has emerged as a transfer target for Saudi Pro League clubs Al-Ittihad and Al-Qadsiah, with both sides interested in securing his services this summer.

The 28-year-old’s future is uncertain after a season-long loan spell at Real Betis, where his performances attracted attention before returning to Turkish club Fenerbahçe.

According to Turkish newspaper Fanatik, Al-Ittihad have identified Amrabat as one of their main priorities as they look to strengthen their midfield options during the current transfer window. However, the Jeddah-based club has not yet submitted an official proposal to Fenerbahçe.

Al-Qadsiah, meanwhile, are reported to have already taken concrete steps by submitting a €20 million offer to the Istanbul club for the Moroccan midfielder.

The same report states that Al-Ittihad are prepared to match Al-Qadsiah’s offer, creating competition between the two Saudi clubs as they attempt to convince Fenerbahçe to approve a potential transfer.

Fenerbahçe have yet to make a final decision on Amrabat’s future. The Turkish club’s management is currently assessing the proposals available and considering how the midfielder’s possible departure could affect their plans for the upcoming season.

Amrabat has established himself as an important figure in European football through his performances at both club and international level.

His displays for Morocco, including during major international competitions, have strengthened his reputation as a reliable defensive midfielder.

The midfielder joined Fenerbahçe after previous spells in European football and has remained a key player due to his work rate, physical presence and ability to control the midfield.

A move to Saudi Arabia would represent a new challenge for the Morocco international, who continues to attract interest despite being under contract with Fenerbahçe.

With Al-Ittihad and Al-Qadsiah now competing for his signature, the coming weeks could prove decisive in determining where Amrabat will play next season.

For now, Fenerbahçe hold the key to the situation as they weigh up whether to accept the offers on the table or retain one of their most experienced midfielders ahead of their upcoming campaign.
