Morocco FA president Lekjaa set for major political move – reports

Morocco Football Federation president Fouzi Lekjaa is reportedly preparing to join the country’s Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), a move that could further strengthen his role in Moroccan public life ahead of the anticipated legislative elections.

According to Moroccan media reports, the official announcement is expected to be made during the party’s National Council meeting on Saturday, following months of speculation linking the senior football administrator with the political organisation.

Party role could follow National Council appointment

Reports from Le360 say Lekjaa’s membership of the National Council would automatically qualify him for a place on the party’s Political Bureau in his capacity as a government minister, in accordance with the party’s internal regulations.

Such a move would place him within the party’s highest executive body and mark another significant step in his political career.

No clarity over football role

The reports did not indicate whether the expected political appointment would have any impact on Lekjaa’s position as president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.

Lekjaa currently serves as Morocco’s Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget while also overseeing the country’s football administration, making him one of the country’s most influential public figures in both government and sport.

Neither Lekjaa nor the Royal Moroccan Football Federation has publicly commented on the reports.
