Ivorian goalkeeper Alban Lafont set for Amedspor move

Ivory Coast international goalkeeper Alban Lafont is on the verge of leaving French side Nantes to begin a new chapter in Turkey, with newly promoted Super Lig club Amedspor closing in on his signature.

The 27-year-old shot-stopper is expected to end his lengthy association with Nantes after the French club’s relegation to Ligue 2, paving the way for a move that will keep him playing in a top-flight European league.

According to reports, Amedspor have reached an advanced stage in negotiations to sign Lafont, with the Ivorian international expected to put pen to paper on a three-year contract.

The goalkeeper’s potential move to the Turkish outfit is expected to cost around €1 million as the club seeks to bolster squad for new season.

Lafont still has one year remaining on his contract with Nantes, but the club’s relegation has significantly altered the futures of several key players, including the experienced goalkeeper.

Having spent several seasons as Nantes’ first-choice goalkeeper, Lafont established himself as one of Ligue 1’s most dependable shot-stoppers through his consistency, leadership and ability to produce crucial saves.

His performances have also earned him international recognition with the Ivory Coast national team, where he remains among the country’s leading goalkeeping options.

A move to Amedspor would offer Lafont the opportunity to continue competing at the highest domestic level while bringing valuable experience to a club preparing for its first season in the Turkish Super Lig.

Fresh from securing promotion, Amedspor have been active in the transfer market as they seek to strengthen their squad with experienced players capable of helping the club avoid relegation and establish itself in Turkey’s top division.

Lafont’s arrival would represent a significant statement of intent from the newly promoted side, with the goalkeeper expected to provide leadership, composure and stability at the back.

Having previously built his reputation in French football, the Ivorian is now poised to test himself in a new environment and another competitive European league.

If the move is completed, it will mark the beginning of a fresh challenge for Lafont, who will be hoping to play a key role in Amedspor’s bid to make a successful transition to life in the Turkish Super Lig while continuing to strengthen his credentials on the international stage with Ivory Coast.
