Following the departure of Hervé Renard, the Zambia Football Federation (FAZ) has announced Patrice Beaumelle as his replacement. Beaumelle, who was Renard’s assistant, will take charge of the Chipolopolo starting from the friendly match against Brazil in Beijing on October 15, 2013, according to the FAZ statement.
Patrice Beaumelle joined the Zambian national team in 2011 alongside Hervé Renard and played a role in the team’s success in winning the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) in Gabon. His familiarity with the Zambian football environment likely influenced his appointment.
The FAZ did not specify whether Beaumelle’s appointment is on a temporary or long-term basis. However, it is confirmed that he will commence his coaching duties on October 15 during the Brazil vs. Zambia friendly match in China.
