The Moroccan women’s under-17 team produced a dominant display on Monday evening, recording a stunning 10-0 victory over Libya in the second round of the North African U17 Women’s tournament being held in Tunisia.

The match, played at the El Kram Stadium on the outskirts of Tunis, saw the young Atlas Lionesses completely control proceedings from the opening whistle as they overwhelmed their Libyan counterparts with an impressive attacking performance.

Morocco’s emphatic win revived their hopes of finishing top of the competition after being held to a 1-1 draw by guest participants Botswana in their opening match of the tournament.

The North African tournament, which runs until July 22, features the U17 women’s national teams of Morocco, Libya and hosts Tunisia, alongside Botswana as a guest nation from outside the region.

The competition is being played in a mini-tournament format, with each team competing across three rounds. The team that accumulates the most points at the end of the final round will be crowned champions.

Morocco’s victory came just days after Tunisia also recorded a huge result, defeating Libya 11-0 in the opening round, setting up a highly anticipated final encounter between the two North African rivals.

The U17 Lionesses will now face hosts Tunisia on July 22 in the decisive final round, with the match expected to determine the eventual winner of the tournament.

After their commanding performance against Libya, Morocco will enter the clash with confidence as they look to complete their campaign on a high and secure the title. The young Moroccan side will be aiming to build on their recent progress in women’s football and continue strengthening the country’s reputation on the continental stage.
