Former head coach of Zamalek’s first football team, the Portuguese Josevaldo Ferreira, conveyed a special message to the new coach, Jose Gomez, following the club’s official announcement of his assumption of the coaching responsibilities.
Ferreira posted on his official Instagram account: “I wish the new coach and Zamalek, and its fans, the best of luck. Gomez is a good coach, trust in him, and support him.”
It is worth noting that Jose Gomez began his coaching career in his mid-twenties, working as an assistant coach at Portuguese clubs, Pasos de Ferreira and Covilha.
He also served as a fitness coach for several clubs, including Gil Vicente, Benfica, Porto in Portugal, Malaga in Spain, and Panathinaikos in Greece.
Gomez took on the role of head coach for Videoton in Hungary, followed by coaching assignments with Al Taawoun in Saudi Arabia.
He later moved on to coach Al Ahli Jeddah in Saudi Arabia before leading Al Ain in the UAE.
He then returned in the same year to coach Al Taawoun in Saudi Arabia again.
He also took charge at Rio Ave and later managed Maritimo in Portugal. Subsequently, Gomez assumed the coaching role at Almeria in Spain, and again returned to Al Taawoun in Saudi Arabia.
He then coached Ponferradina in the Spanish league before concluding his coaching journey with Chaves in Portugal, departing from the role in September last year.
