Sabir Bougrine: Morocco midfielder linked with Bank El Ahly move after Raja exit
Morocco international Sabir Bougrine, currently without a club after leaving Raja Casablanca, is being linked with a move to Egyptian Premier League side Bank El Ahly.
The 30-year-old attacking midfielder became a free agent this summer after his spell with Raja, where he arrived from Tunisian giants Esperance in 2023. His availability on a free is understood to have drawn interest from Bank El Ahly as they look to add experience and creativity in advanced midfield areas.
Bougrine has built a diverse career across North Africa and Europe, including stints in the Moroccan Botola Pro, the Tunisian top flight and the Azerbaijani Premyer Liqa. He made his name as a regular in Morocco’s domestic league, registering close to 80 appearances in the Botola Pro and featuring prominently in the CAF Champions League, where he has more than 20 games and a series of goal contributions to his name.
On the international stage, Bougrine was part of the Morocco squad that lifted both the African Nations Championship and the Arab Cup in the 2024-25 season, further enhancing his reputation in the region. At club level he has collected league titles in Morocco, Tunisia and Azerbaijan, underlining his experience in pressure situations and title-chasing environments.
With his market value currently estimated at around €450,000, a deal for Bougrine would represent a relatively low-risk addition for Bank El Ahly, who would not need to negotiate a transfer fee. Talks are yet to be finalised, but the midfielder’s free-agent status means any agreement could be concluded swiftly once the Egyptian club decide whether to formalise their interest.
