Batista Mendy: Trabzonspor midfielder linked with Getafe move amid LaLiga interest

France and Guinea-Bissau midfielder Batista Mendy, currently at Trabzonspor, is being linked with a move to LaLiga side Getafe as the Spanish club explore options to reinforce their defensive midfield this summer.

Mendy, 26, has a year remaining on his Trabzonspor contract, which runs until 30 June 2027, a situation that could encourage negotiations if Getafe decide to formalise their interest. The Istanbul club value the player at around €7.5 million, and any deal is expected to reflect his status as a regular in the Turkish top flight.

The 1.91m right-footed midfielder has been a mainstay for Trabzonspor since arriving from Angers SCO in September 2023, having featured regularly in the Super Lig. He also spent part of last season on loan at Sevilla, making 27 appearances in LaLiga, experience that is understood to be attractive to Getafe as they look for a player already attuned to Spanish football.

Born in Saint-Nazaire and developed at Nantes, Mendy moved to Angers in 2021 before making the switch to Turkey, where his market value has risen from €3m at the time of his Trabzonspor move to a peak of €10m during his spell in Spain.

Trabzonspor must now decide whether to cash in on the midfielder this summer or keep him for at least another season, with his contract still giving the Turkish club a strong negotiating position as Getafe weigh up their next move.
