Noah Atubolu attracts Aston Villa interest

Noah Atubolu’s future at SC Freiburg looks increasingly uncertain, with Aston Villa now among the clubs monitoring the 24-year-old goalkeeper.

Reports in Germany say talks over a possible move are advancing quickly, and a transfer to the Premier League is now seen as the most likely outcome.

Villa’s interest appears tied to the future of Emiliano Martinez, although the club is not currently expecting their No. 1 to leave. AFC Bournemouth are also said to be watching the situation, while one other English top club is believed to be involved as well, even if its name has not been revealed yet.

Freiburg have already taken steps to prepare for life after Atubolu by signing Mio Backhaus from Werder Bremen. The move suggests the Bundesliga side are ready for change if their first-choice keeper departs in the near future.

Atubolu still has a contract running until 2027, but the expectation is that a transfer could happen soon. The destination remains open, yet the goalkeeper’s next step may well take him to England.
