Transfer news

Morocco international Yassine Bounou could be set for a surprise departure from Al-Hilal, with reports suggesting the Saudi Pro League club are considering selling the experienced goalkeeper despite his success since arriving from Sevilla.

According to journalist Mohammed Al-Bakiri, who is regarded as being close to the club, Al-Hilal’s hierarchy are weighing up whether to part ways with Bounou in a move that could generate a significant transfer fee while interest in the Moroccan remains high.

The report claims clubs from England, Spain and Turkey are monitoring the Atlas Lions goalkeeper, prompting Al-Hilal to assess their options ahead of the new season.

Successful spell in Saudi Arabia

Bounou joined Al-Hilal from Spanish side Sevilla in the summer of 2023 and has established himself as one of the club’s key players.

During his time in Saudi Arabia, the Morocco international has helped Al-Hilal win five domestic trophies while producing a series of impressive performances in major competitions, including the FIFA Club World Cup.

His consistent displays have reinforced his reputation as one of Africa’s leading goalkeepers and attracted interest from clubs across Europe.

Al-Owais tipped to replace Morocco star

The report adds that Al-Hilal are considering turning to Saudi Arabia international Mohammed Al-Owais as their first-choice goalkeeper should Bounou leave the club.

Al-Bakiri said the Saudi side have already reached an agreement with Al-Owais, with an official announcement expected in the coming days following the goalkeeper’s impressive performances for Saudi Arabia at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

If completed, the move would pave the way for Bounou’s departure and bring an end to a trophy-laden spell with the Riyadh-based club.

For now, however, no official confirmation has been issued by Al-Hilal regarding Bounou’s future, leaving the Morocco international’s next move the subject of growing speculation.
