World Cup 2026

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly considering a summer move for Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki after the Japan international enjoyed a standout 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the French champions have identified the 23-year-old as a potential long-term addition as they look to strengthen their squad in the coming seasons.

Suzuki’s performances for Japan at the World Cup further increased his profile, while his displays in Serie A with Parma have also attracted attention from several European clubs.

Strong season despite injury setback

The Newark, New Jersey-born goalkeeper impressed during his first season with Parma, despite having his campaign interrupted by a hand injury.

Suzuki made 22 appearances for the Italian club and recorded six clean sheets, underlining his growing reputation as one of the most promising young goalkeepers in European football.

His consistency between the posts has placed him on the radar of other clubs, including Aston Villa and Leeds United.

Premier League interest increases competition

Aston Villa are reportedly monitoring Suzuki as they prepare for the possible departure of Emiliano Martínez, while Leeds United have also been linked with a move for the Japanese goalkeeper.

Parma are believed to value Suzuki at around €35 million, a figure that would represent a significant profit for the club despite the player’s contract running until 2030.

PSG view Suzuki as long-term investment

For PSG, Suzuki represents an opportunity to strengthen their goalkeeping options for the future.

The French club already have Matvey Safonov, Lucas Chevalier and recently signed young Italian goalkeeper Alessandro Longoni, but the Japanese international’s potential and World Cup performances have made him an attractive target.

Suzuki’s rapid rise from Parma prospect to a player being considered by Europe’s biggest clubs highlights the growing influence of international tournaments in shaping the transfer market.
