Morocco’s Younes El Bahraoui completes move to Saudi club Al-Taawoun
Saudi Pro League side Al-Taawoun have completed the signing of Moroccan forward Younes El Bahraoui on a three-year contract, with the club retaining an option to extend the deal by a further season.
The 21-year-old arrives in Saudi Arabia after emerging as one of Morocco’s promising young attacking talents, following an impressive loan spell at Kawkab Marrakech that attracted interest from outside his homeland.
Announcing the transfer on Saturday, Al-Taawoun described the signing as part of its long-term vision, presenting El Bahraoui as a player eager to begin a new chapter and help the club achieve its ambitions.
The club also portrayed the move as the start of a journey driven by passion and commitment, underlining its desire to build for the future while rewarding the expectations of its supporters.
Breakthrough season earns overseas opportunity
El Bahraoui’s stock rose significantly during his loan spell from Renaissance Berkane to Kawkab Marrakech, where he produced four goals and three assists.
Beyond the statistics, the young forward impressed with his ability to influence matches consistently, performances that ultimately paved the way for his first move abroad.
His development has also been recognised at international level, having represented Morocco’s Under-20 side, where he has continued to strengthen his reputation as one of the country’s emerging attacking prospects.
Familiar Moroccan faces await in Saudi Arabia
Al-Taawoun believe El Bahraoui can provide greater attacking depth as the club looks to strengthen its squad ahead of the new domestic campaign, with the signing reflecting its strategy of investing in young talent while remaining competitive.
The Moroccan will also benefit from joining a growing African contingent in Saudi Arabia, where fellow countrymen Abderrazak Hamdallah and Achraf El Mahdioui are already established.
Their presence is expected to help ease El Bahraoui’s adaptation as he embarks on the next stage of his career, with Al-Taawoun hoping the highly rated youngster can fulfil his potential in the Saudi Pro League.
