Real Madrid set Vinicius Junior deadline as contract talks resume
Real Madrid have reportedly arranged a decisive meeting with Vinicius Junior as they step up efforts to resolve the Brazilian forward’s long-running contract saga.
Negotiations over a new deal have stalled for months, with the Spanish giants and the 25-year-old unable to agree on financial terms. The club are understood to have reservations over the winger’s salary demands, leaving discussions frozen since the start of 2026.
According to reports from AS, talks are now set to resume following Brazil’s elimination from the FIFA World Cup, with both parties hoping to find common ground before the transfer window gathers pace.
Future hangs in the balance
Despite the impasse, Vinicius is believed to remain committed to staying at the Santiago Bernabéu, where he has established himself as one of the club’s most influential players.
However, Real Madrid are reportedly prepared to make a difficult decision if fresh negotiations fail to produce an agreement. Rather than risk losing the Brazil international for a reduced fee closer to the end of his contract, the club could sanction his sale this summer.
Vinicius is currently tied to Madrid until June 2027, leaving the club under increasing pressure to clarify his long-term future.
Saudi interest remains an option
The uncertainty has inevitably fuelled speculation over the winger’s next move, with clubs from Saudi Arabia previously linked with a blockbuster bid for the former Flamengo star.
While Real Madrid’s priority remains securing his future with a renewed contract, the upcoming meeting is expected to determine whether the relationship moves forward or heads towards an unexpected split.
