Daylam Meddah: Montpellier eye move for Franco-Algerian Pau defender
France-Algeria centre-back Daylam Meddah of Pau FC is being linked with a move to Montpellier as the Ligue 2 club look to reinforce their defence ahead of the new season.
The 23-year-old, who is under contract at Pau until 30 June 2027, has emerged as a target after establishing himself in the second tier. Montpellier are monitoring the situation closely, with Pau expected to point to his current market valuation of around 1.5 million in any negotiations.
Meddah joined Pau permanently on a free transfer from SM Caen in July 2025 after an initial loan spell earlier that year. His performances since then have consolidated his reputation in Ligue 2, where he has made 56 appearances and contributed two goals and two assists from centre-back.
Born in Montivilliers and standing at 1.87m, the right-footed defender has come through the French system with Le Havres youth sides before stints at Angers SCO B and FC Sochaux, prior to his move to Caen in 2023. His steady progression through the divisions and regular game time in Ligue 2 have drawn the attention of clubs seeking a physically imposing option in central defence.
For now, Pau retain control over Meddahs future thanks to the long-term deal he signed last summer, and any move would require Montpellier to find an agreement with the Bearn club before the close of the window.
