The leadership crisis at Ivorian first division club Africa Sports has prompted action from the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF). In a meeting held on Friday, the FIF executive committee appointed Maître Cheickna Sylla, the current president of the Africa Sports Honorary Council, as the provisional administrator of the club. Sylla has been given a two-month mandate to organize a new elective general assembly for Africa Sports.
The new team led by Maître Cheickna Sylla is expected to exclude members from both the Board of Directors chaired by Mr. Koné Cheick Oumar and those appointed by Mr. Alexis Vagba. Their primary tasks include establishing a joint commission to clean up the club’s statutes and internal regulations, with the approval and supervision of the FIF.
Additionally, an audit of Africa Sports’ accounts for the period from August 6, 2011, to the present will be conducted under the supervision of the FIF.
The leadership dispute has divided the club, with supporters expressing their allegiance to Koné Cheick Oumar, who was elected in 2011 for a five-year mandate. The intervention by the FIF aims to address the governance issues and pave the way for a more stable and transparent administration at Africa Sports.
