Newcastle complete €50m signing of Bazoumana Touré from Hoffenheim
Newcastle United have completed the signing of Ivory Coast international Bazoumana Touré from Hoffenheim in a deal worth €50 million as the Premier League club continues to reshape its squad during the summer transfer window.
The club confirmed the transfer on its official website, announcing that the 22-year-old has signed a five-year contract that will keep him at St James’ Park until 2031.
Touré’s arrival comes as Newcastle move quickly to reinforce their attacking options following the departure of Anthony Gordon to Barcelona.
The club acted decisively in the market to secure one of their key targets amid strong competition from other Premier League sides.
The €50 million fee represents a record sale for Hoffenheim, surpassing their previous highest transfer income. It also places Touré among the most expensive Ivorian players in football history, behind only Nicolas Pépé’s move to Arsenal.
Touré leaves the Bundesliga after a standout campaign in which he registered five goals and 14 assists in 32 appearances. His performances played a key role in Hoffenheim’s strong season, helping the club finish fifth in the league standings.
Newcastle have now made him their second signing of the summer, following the earlier arrival of Ewen Jaouen, as part of an ongoing rebuild of the squad.
The Ivorian winger attracted widespread interest across Europe, with several Premier League clubs reportedly monitoring his situation.
According to reports, Brentford, Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United were all among those keeping close tabs on the player before Newcastle secured his signature.
Valued previously at around €40 million, Touré had also been earning a reported €840,000 annually in Germany before completing his move to England.
His signing is seen as a major statement from Newcastle, who have moved aggressively in the transfer market to strengthen their squad depth and attacking options ahead of the new season.
The club will now hope Touré can quickly adapt to the demands of the Premier League and replicate the creative form that made him one of the most productive attacking players in the Bundesliga last season.
