Luis Enrique happy with Ousmane Dembele’s PSG return

Ousmane Dembele made a promising return from rest during Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-1 defeat to Monaco, coming off the bench to play around twenty minutes after being left out against Lille.

The 29-year-old forward, who has made four appearances across all competitions this season, is now set for a gradual increase in match time under Luis Enrique.

The PSG manager explained that Dembele had pushed himself to feature in both Super Cup matches before taking a short break to recover. With that rest now behind him, the coaching staff are carefully managing his workload as they build towards a busier schedule.

“Ousmane had made an effort to play the two Super Cups. Afterwards, he took a bit of rest. Now, we are starting to increase his playing time. Today, he played 20 or 25 minutes at a very good level. We are happy to see him back and it will be like that for the coming matches,” Luis Enrique said in his post-match press conference.

Dembele’s reintroduction offers PSG an additional attacking option as they look to bounce back from the Monaco setback. The Spain international’s pace and creativity remain vital assets, and his growing fitness should provide more variety in the final third.
