Japanese outfit Sanfrecce Hiroshima announces signing of Ivory Coast star Sebastian Haller
Sébastien Haller has officially joined Sanfrecce Hiroshima as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with FC Utrecht.
The former Borussia Dortmund star completed his switch to the Japanese club on Monday, July 6, 2026, with Haller set to represent Sanfrecce Hiroshima during the 2026–27 season.
The move marks a new chapter in the career of the 32-year-old forward, who will now continue his professional journey in Asia after spending the majority of his career in European football.
Haller arrives in Japan with extensive experience gained across several top European clubs, having previously featured for Eintracht Frankfurt, AFC Ajax, West Ham United FC, CD Leganés and Borussia Dortmund.
Known for his physical presence, aerial strength and clinical finishing ability, the Ivory Coast international is expected to add experience and attacking quality to the Sanfrecce Hiroshima squad ahead of the new campaign.
The transfer also represents another high-profile addition to Japanese football, with Haller becoming one of the latest internationally recognised players to make the switch to the J-League.
Haller missed out on the Ivory Coast squad for the 2026 World Cup tournament, where the Elephants bowed out at round 32 following defeat to Norway.
