David Akologo: GV San Jose complete free transfer for Bolivia-Ghana goalkeeper from Real Potosi

GV San Jose have completed the signing of goalkeeper David Akologo from Real Potosi on a free transfer, with the move officially registered to begin on 2026-07-04 and his contract scheduled to run until 2027-06-30. The Bolivia- and Ghana-eligible shot-stopper arrives in Oruro with a current market valuation listed at 275k, according to the latest data.

The deal keeps Akologo in the Bolivian top flight, as he moves within the Division Profesional from Real Potosi to GV San Jose. With the transfer completed as a free, no fee was paid to Real Potosi despite the 29-year-olds six-figure valuation, underlining the opportunistic nature of the signing for his new club.

Born in Accra and standing at 1.84m, Akologo is a right-footed specialist goalkeeper who has built his entire professional club career in Bolivia since leaving Ghana. His dual nationality, recognised as both Bolivian and Ghanaian, means he continues as a foreign-trained but domestically established option in the Division Profesional rather than returning to play in his country of birth.

The move to GV San Jose follows a short spell at Real Potosi, whom he joined from Club Aurora at the start of 2026. Before that, he had multiple stints with Aurora, interspersed with loans and permanent moves that took him across the Bolivian pyramid. Those included runs with CD Enrique Happ, Club Deportivo FATIC and Cochabamba FC, giving him a broad familiarity with the countrys footballing landscape.

Akologos career path shows a steady rise in reputation and value through his time in Bolivia. His market value, initially recorded at 25,000 euros during his early days with Club Aurora, climbed sharply across subsequent seasons, peaking several times and reaching 400,000 euros while still in Cochabamba. Although that valuation later dipped, his latest figure of 275,000 euros at Real Potosi reflects his standing as an experienced, established goalkeeper in the division.

Before his move abroad, Akologo developed in Ghanas lower tiers, featuring for Ajax FC Accra and Tudu Mighty Jets. A transfer in 2018 away from the Ghanaian system eventually led him to Cochabamba FC via an intermediate spell listed only as Unknown, marking the beginning of his long-term association with Bolivian football and a career spent competing away from his home country.

The confirmed switch to GV San Jose keeps Akologo in the Division Profesional, rather than testing himself in another league or returning to Ghana, and extends a career that has already taken him from Accras local pitches to some of Bolivias most demanding environments. With his contract now running through to 2027-06-30, his performances in Oruro will determine whether he can consolidate his value, attract further interest or potentially set up another move in the region as he enters the prime years for a goalkeeper.
