Transfer news

RB Leipzig have made it clear that highly rated winger Yan Diomande will remain at the club during the 2026 summer transfer window despite growing interest from several European giants.

The Bundesliga side has taken a strong position in the ongoing transfer speculation surrounding the 19-year-old Ivorian talent, with club officials determined to keep one of their brightest young stars in Saxony for at least another season.

Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool have both been heavily linked with Diomande in recent weeks, while reports suggested enormous transfer figures were already being discussed behind the scenes. However, Leipzig have now moved decisively to shut down any possibility of a summer departure.

Marcel Schäfer sends strong message to interested clubs

RB Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schäfer delivered a direct response to the growing rumours, insisting the club will not consider selling the winger this year.

“Yan Diomande will play for RB Leipzig next year. And we are not backing down from that,” sporting director Marcel Schäfer stated unequivocally in an interview with the BILD newspaper.

Schäfer also admitted the youngster could eventually move on in the future, but stressed that the timing is not right for the player to leave the club.

While speculation continues to intensify across Europe, Leipzig reportedly do not have a financial figure that would convince them to change their stance this summer. Reports claim the German side have already turned down a staggering €100 million offer from Liverpool for the Ivorian international.

Improved contract planned for rising Ivorian star

Rather than entertaining transfer discussions, Leipzig are now believed to be preparing improved contract terms for Diomande as a reward for his rapid development and growing importance within the squad.

According to Sky Sport, the winger’s current deal already runs until 2030, but the club wants to significantly improve the conditions attached to the agreement.

The latest developments come after previous reports from Sky Sport claimed Diomande had already agreed to a five-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain, with talks also said to have taken place between the French champions and Leipzig.

Although Leipzig have firmly blocked any immediate transfer through Schäfer’s decision, speculation surrounding Diomande’s long-term future is expected to continue in the months ahead.
