Leipzig turn down offer for Yan Diomande

Paris Saint-Germain are pushing aggressively to sign Ivory Coast forward Yan Diomande, with negotiations now underway with RB Leipzig as the French champions attempt to beat Liverpool FC to one of Europe’s most coveted young talents.

The 19-year-old enjoyed a sensational Bundesliga campaign, scoring 12 goals and providing nine assists in 33 appearances to establish himself as one of the continent’s brightest prospects. His performances have sparked fierce interest across Europe, but PSG appear determined to move ahead of the competition.

Liverpool have reportedly been prepared to pay around £86 million for the teenager, but Leipzig are holding firm over their valuation, insisting they will not sanction a sale below their asking price, believed to be in excess of €100 million.

Leipzig hold firm on valuation

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says discussions between PSG and Leipzig are progressing, although the transfer fee remains the biggest obstacle.

“Paris Saint-Germain in talks with RB Leipzig to find a solution for Yan Diomandé deal.

“Leipzig insist on fee higher than €100m to let Diomandé leave now, or offer chance for different price but leaving Yan in Germany on loan for one season.

“PSG want Diomandé asap.”

The Bundesliga side are understood to be exploring two options: receive a premium transfer fee this summer or agree to a lower figure provided Diomande remains on loan in Germany for another season.

While negotiations continue between the two clubs, PSG have reportedly made significant progress with the player himself.

Long-term deal already in place

According to Sky Sports, the Ligue 1 champions have already reached an agreement on personal terms, with Diomande set to sign a contract running until 2031 if the clubs can settle on a transfer fee.

That development gives PSG a significant advantage in the race, although Liverpool are still monitoring the situation closely should negotiations stall.

World Cup stage adds to transfer spotlight

Diomande’s immediate focus remains on the World Cup, where he is representing Ivory Coast.

The young forward is expected to feature when the Elephants face Norway in the Round of 32 in Arlington, Texas, with scouts from Europe’s leading clubs set to watch him once again.

Another standout performance on football’s biggest stage would only strengthen Leipzig’s negotiating position as PSG continue their efforts to complete a blockbuster deal before Liverpool can make another move.
