Lindelof hails Alexander Isak

Alexander Isak has declared he feels at peak condition after rediscovering his scoring touch for Sweden national football team at the World Cup, where his form has become one of the tournament’s talking points.

The 26-year-old forward, who joined Liverpool F.C. in a £125 million deal from Newcastle United F.C., has produced his best performances of the season on the international stage, striking his first World Cup goal in a commanding 5-1 victory over Tunisia.

While Sweden’s overall campaign has been inconsistent, Isak’s influence has grown steadily, with his movement, confidence and finishing suggesting a player operating with renewed freedom and sharpness.

Liverpool scrutiny after slow start on merseyside

Since his record-breaking move to Anfield, Isak has been placed under intense scrutiny, with supporters and analysts dissecting every appearance in a Liverpool shirt. Injuries and fitness setbacks have disrupted his rhythm, limiting him to just four goals in 22 appearances across all competitions.

Those struggles have raised questions about whether the striker had fully settled into life in England, with expectations remaining high given his transfer fee and reputation. However, his international form has offered a contrasting picture, one of a forward rediscovering confidence at a crucial moment.

“I feel like I’m in a good place now”

Speaking on his condition and performances, Isak stressed the mental and physical separation between club and international football, while underlining his current state of confidence.

“Club team and national team are two very separate things,” Isak said. “When I joined the national team, I had absolutely no thoughts about anything other than Sweden and the World Cup.

“It’s clear that it’s nice to have a good World Cup, and you want to do it even better all the time. I feel like I’m in a good place now. And hopefully I can continue to do well.

“Now I feel good, very good. But it’s hard to put your finger on what your maximum is, you never know. But I have nothing to complain about right now when it comes to my physical status.”

Timing boost for Liverpool’s attacking plans

Isak’s resurgence comes at a significant moment for Liverpool F.C., who are also planning for a prolonged absence of fellow forward Hugo Ekitike, ruled out until around Boxing Day.

His return to full sharpness could therefore provide a timely solution for Liverpool’s attacking depth, particularly if his World Cup form translates back to Premier League duty in the months ahead.
