Rising Morocco star Fouad Zahouani has completed a major career move to Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam ahead of the new season.

Zahouani joins the four-time Champions League holders from Union Sportive de Touarga, marking a significant step in his promising career.

The highly rated midfielder has joined Ajax as part of the club’s continued commitment to developing emerging talent from across the world, with the Amsterdam-based side securing his signature after he underwent a successful medical examination in the Dutch capital earlier in the week.

According to earlier reports, Zahouani had already arrived in Amsterdam to finalise the move, with negotiations concluding smoothly before the deal was officially announced by the player himself.

Shortly after the transfer was confirmed, Zahouani took social media to share an emotional message of gratitude, reflecting on his journey from Morocco to one of Europe’s most historic clubs.

He reserved special praise for His Majesty King Mohammed VI, recognising the monarch’s vision in establishing the Mohammed VI Football Academy, which has become a key institution in the development of Moroccan football talent.

Zahouani highlighted the academy’s role in shaping his career, describing it as a vital foundation that provided him with the technical, physical, and mental tools needed to succeed at the highest level of the game.

He also acknowledged the contribution of the technical, administrative, and medical staff at the academy, crediting them for their continuous support, guidance, and commitment throughout his development years.

The player further extended his gratitude to Ittihad Touarga Sports Club, where he gained valuable experience during his post-training phase. He praised the club’s structured development programme, which operates in close partnership with the Mohammed VI Football Academy and has helped several young players’ progress into professional football.

Zahouani emphasised that this pathway played a crucial role in preparing him for the challenges of European football, both on and off the pitch.

In his message, the midfielder also pledged to continue working hard to represent Moroccan football in the best possible way, expressing his ambition to succeed at Ajax and make his country proud on the international stage.

The move to Ajax represents a major opportunity for Zahouani, a club renowned for its world-class youth development system and its history of producing elite footballers who go on to compete at the highest levels of European football.

For Morocco, the transfer is another strong example of the growing pipeline of young talent emerging from the country’s development structures, particularly the Mohammed VI Football Academy, which has become a cornerstone of the nation’s football progress in recent years.

As Zahouani begins this new chapter in Amsterdam, expectations will be high, but so too is belief in his potential to develop into a key player for both club and country in the years ahead.
