Ivorian star Franck Kessié hails Barcelona spell as happiest period of his career
Ivory Coast international Franck Kessié has described his spell at Barcelona as the happiest period of his professional career despite its relatively short duration.
The experienced midfielder, now playing in Saudi Arabia, expressed deep emotional attachment to the Catalan giants, insisting that the experience left a lasting impact on him regardless of how long he spent at the club.
“Playing for Barça is the happiest I’ve ever been, whether it was for a year, six months, or even just four days,” Kessié said, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.
Kessié joined Barcelona in 2022 as a free agent after leaving AC Milan, arriving with high expectations following a strong spell in Serie A. During his time at the club, he contributed to the midfield rotation and played a role in their domestic campaign before eventually moving on after one season.
He later completed a transfer to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli Saudi FC, where he continues his career.
Despite the brief stay, Kessié’s comments highlight the emotional connection many players form with Barcelona, a club known for its strong identity and demanding football culture.
His reflections underline how even short spells at elite clubs can leave a significant personal and professional impact on players, particularly when they coincide with success, adaptation, and life at one of Europe’s most prestigious teams.
