Frankfurt monitor German-Gambian prospect Ismail Badjie of VfL Osnabrück

Eintracht Frankfurt are reportedly tracking Germany and Gambia attacking midfielder Ismail Badjie, 20, who currently plays for 3. Liga side VfL Osnabrück.

Badjie, valued at €800k on Transfermarkt, has emerged as a rumoured target for the Bundesliga club, with the move currently listed with an unspecified probability (“?”) as talks or formal negotiations are yet to be reported. His contract situation at Osnabrück is unclear, with no expiry date publicly recorded, prompting suggestions that the youngster could either be available at a relatively low fee or potentially move on as a free agent in a future window if no long-term deal is agreed.

Born on 17 October 2005 in Jambanjelly, Badjie holds both German and Gambian nationality and operates primarily as an attacking midfielder. The right-footed playmaker, who wears the number 37 shirt for Osnabrück, stands at 1.75m and has been used in advanced central roles, reflecting Frankfurt’s ongoing search for younger, technically skilled midfield options to develop behind their established first-team players.

Badjie has been involved in Osnabrück’s 3. Liga campaign, featuring most recently in a league fixture earlier this month, where he started in attacking midfield in a tight encounter against a fellow third-tier opponent. Osnabrück drew the match, and while Badjie did not score, he was involved in several attacking phases and completed the full 90 minutes, underlining his growing role at senior level.

With Osnabrück competing in Germany’s third tier and Frankfurt pushing at the top end of the Bundesliga, any move would represent a major step up in Badjie’s career. Should the transfer materialise, it could accelerate his development and shape his reputation as one of the latest dual-nationality talents to bridge the gap from the lower leagues into the German top flight.
